Shamecca Harris is a New York-based creative writer and teaching artist. Her essays, reportage, and experimental writing have appeared in The Rumpus, Global Citizen, and Apogee Journal, among others. She has a BA in English from Georgetown University and an MFA in Creative Writing from the City College of New York. Prior to the MFA, she wrote and edited digital content for publishers including ABC News and The Huffington Post and worked as an editorial liaison for various Fortune 500 companies to help develop and execute their content marketing strategies. She currently teaches Literature and Composition at the City University of New York and explores independent creative projects in New York City. Her work principally focuses on issues related to race, culture, and identity.
